![]() Vizard wrote once that the problem with the mag ******** and manifold tests is that he could choose a cam that would make anyone of the intakes or heads to make the most power. To many shops try to sell their rework only to find they do it their way not yours or even worse they re-box someone else s work as thiers for u. Nowadays i look more for value and parts that compliment the whole car/combo and that's why i guess i like the Edels for bolt on and go so much. Mystery Bird, i've given up on having everything done to my specification - too expensive and frustrating. It really shows how well the LT1 intake was matched to a 350" motor as the larger Edel intake runners do nothing for the stock 350" LT1 even with the cooler airgap air charge. And i'm thinking that Edel cam & heads would perform the same with a lower 2400 stall through 3.23 gears as your car is setup more for race now than street asking for even more cam.Īnd my take on the intakes is it needs more cam or cubes realize the somewhat larger Edel runners. I do have to wonder how your car would change with some exh cutouts or even with long tubes with cutouts. Thx for sharing here Fernando and i don't want to challenge what u have found to be true. What i always liked 'bout Edel is their heads (and most other products) are just bolt on an go, good quality parts. I really don't think Edel is lying to us and with over 240cfm 0.5" lift the Edel Performers have great flow - especially at that price level. So for a single exh pipe car like our camaro maybe a nice dual pattern cam with added exh duration would be a better choice. Low and mid-range torque are just as important. Remember peak power doesn't win the race its self - its total power under the whole curve that gets it done. What i'm guessing at here is that Edel head/cam combo might work better on a dual exh/dual cat car like the corvette than the single pipe camaro. But the Edel LT1 heads flow more like the LT4 heads and with tighter runners giving higher velocity for same flow and increasing swirl. Its specs should make power in the same range as the LT4 cam but reports are it doesn't and i'm thinking the exh is why. A single pattern cam needs a low restrictive exh where most street cars wearing a cat converter are not. I still believe in Edelbrock though their cam specs don't make sense for a street application. Maximize Profit Maximize shareholder wealth Bolt on cars done right will whoop on that. They put 283HP to the rear wheels with EB heads and cam. Also wonder if their dyno isn't generous too. One last article on EB LT1 package note the FLow bench used to test the heads in this article was very generous reporting more flow(10-20cfm) for all 3 cylinder heads EB,LT1,LT4 than is normal. |-l.2011-stock-gm-heads-vs-patriot-edelbrock.html 500" lift.Įlliots work is quality look carefully he even chamfers the edges on all his heads intake runner openings exhaust openings and the combustion chambers. 550" lift stock LT1's average 206-212cfm at. The Edelbrocks are supposed to flow 240cfm Lloyds tests 164cfm at. The Edelbrock heads have smaller ports etc than stock and their published numbers for Flow didn't prove accurate According to Lloyds Elliots Flow Bench Night Train66 post # 2 Take a look at the casting blobs and restrictions inside the EB. Here a ported LT1 intake whoops the EdelBrock intake by 6.6HP velocity not volume of flow. Key is getting highest flow with the smallest runners. The larger runners and plenum volume kill power unless running real high RPM or Cubic inches 383 396 406 etc. 1 less HP than stock manifold with stock throttle body solution add 52MM Throttle body to stock manifold. The Edelbrock cam heads intake for LT1 isn't as good as the stock heads and intake reworked and the GM hotcam is better than the EB.Įdelbrock intake v stock intake with stock throttle body the Edelbrock lost 4hp and made 1ft lb more torque added a 52mm throttle body Edelbrock still. The larger intake manifold runner and plenum volume made Horsepower peak 200RPM higher. In this article the thing that made big 4hp was the addition to the Edelbrock package of a 52MM throttle body good for 4HP over the Edelbrock heads/cam stock manifold and throttle body. The plenum volume is large enough on the stock manifolds ported they out dyno the Edelbrock. My Post from some information with links from LTX TECH site. ![]()
